Fantasy Habitat Creation
Saturday, May 12
1 to 3 pm
(See To Register below.)
Presented in partnership between local artist Carol Simpson and the Local Living Venture.
We look forward to a fun and informative session with Carol, creating beautiful fantasy habitats from natural materials native to the North Country.
This is a great opportunity to play with the woods fairies and enjoy the beautiful, ever-changing collection of dried native botanicals Carol treasures and loves to share!
Spark the imagination of children and adults alike!
Give your fantasy creatures a home!
A diorama type box with a handcrafted bark covering can be decorated with a huge variety of Carol's gorgeous dried botanicals from the woods and garden!
In this miniature world, the small becomes large so a pine cone can turn into a bush, a few small branches into a tree, seed heads from grasses and flowers arranged into a garden, moss can be grass.
Use some small river stones, pieces of shale, marble and sandstone chips to build whatever you can imagine.
Some man-made materials like marbles and beads can add yet another element. So much to choose from for your fairies, poke-mons, miniature dragons, dinosaurs, hobbits or leprechauns, super heroes, Polly pocket dolls, or whatever is
your favorite miniature creature.
Our wish is that you go home with not only your fantasy habitat, but inspiration and ideas to keep creating!
She began experimenting on what was dry-able and would
maintain color without falling apart. Her favorite is the milkweed pod!
She began weaving grapevines into wreaths and decorating them
with the native botanicals from her woods walks.
Caol discovered that arranging the materials together exhibits their complexity and diversity, and expands ones appreciation of the beauty of Mother Nature’s gifts. Sharing this appreciation creates more joy in her life.
